numerology's POWER NUMBERS

The Power Numbers are 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99

Numerology recognizes Power numbers for their enhanced and sharply focused influence.

They are 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99.

(11, 22, and 33 are Master numbers, and should not be confused with Power numbers and vice versa.)

Why Power numbers deserve special mention.

A numerologist always considers the double-digit numbers that form the basis of the single-digit numbers in your chart,  because they convey their own influence. For example, a 7 based on 34 (3+4=7) is more creative and efficient than a 7 based on 25 (2+5=7), which is more sensitive and unconventional.

Similarly we attach value and influence to Angel numbers, a relatively new phenomenon.

However, among the double-digit numbers, those that are made up of two identical digits like 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, or 99, have a particularly strong and unique influence due to the fact that the attribute of each digit is multiplied.

Think of it as twin siblings with similar talents working together - their potential for success is greatly enhanced as a result of their combined effort.

In addition, the single digit that forms the foundation (44 = 8, 55 = 1, 66 = 3, etc.) tends to benefit as well. This is not a coincidence but one of the many examples of the beauty and harmony of numerology's rigorous calculation methods. There is nothing random about the fact that two fives (55) produce a 1, and that the qualities of the 5 have the potential to make that 1 more powerful and effective.

Similarly, the doubled-up power of the extremely pragmatic 4 (methodical and focused) is the perfect foundation for a highly impressive 8 (results oriented, career/business focused).

44

The 4 and 8 (4+4 = 8) get along well and complement each other. The 8 is visionary, a goal-getter, result and business oriented, but it doesn’t waste time on details. The 4 is the most detail-oriented number of all - the organizer and manager. Together they make a formidable pair. If an 8 is based on 44, its potential for success is greatly enhanced.

55

The 1 is leadership, independence, individuality, and thinks outside the box. Pairing these qualities with the 5 - the most unconventional, adventurous, and freedom-loving number - is a perfect fit.

When a 1 is based on 55, it’s potential to break new ground, aim high, and lead us into unknown territory makes it a force to be reckoned with. The combination of drive and ambition inherent in the 55 are second to none.

66

The 3 is the most verbal of all numbers, but it has difficulty maintaining focus and shuns responsibility. Reliability is where the 6 shines. This is another example of a great pairing - the careless, creative 3 and the highly responsible, self-sacrificing 6.

A 3 based on 66 has the potential to produce a talented artist and inspiring human being.

77

This is one of my personal favorites: the serious, spiritual, introverted 7 as the base for the freedom-loving, unconventional, and intelligent 5. A marriage made in heaven.

The potential for a 5 based on 77 to reach the highest realms of original thought and spiritual realization is on par with that of the next power number (88), but for very different reasons. The 77 will gain these heights by ignoring the rules and thinking so far out of the box, its biggest challenge will be conveying its knowledge to others.

There is also a 14 Karmic number involved (7 + 7 produces the 14 Karmic Debt number), which adds another challenge.

88

Add 8 + 8, and you get the Karmic Debt number 16, the Fallen Tower, also called Phoenix rising. Adding 1 + 6 produces the most spiritual single digit number - the 7.

The 16 Karmic Debt number has produced more people of wisdom and sainthood than any other number. This is a particularly unique Power number. The 8 is the visionary, the 16 the Karmic seeker and searcher (often as a result of loss and loneliness), and the 7, the number of spiritual growth.

A 7 based on 88 is a number of great potential, but mainly in the spiritual realm. A 7 based on 88 that directs its attention toward worldly gain is a recipe for disaster.

99

The highest of all Power numbers, the 99 relates to global consciousness, tolerance, humanitarianism, and love for people worldwide.

The 99 reduces to 9 (after leapfrogging the 18). This unique combination includes the non-materialistic, self-sacrificing "mother Theresa" number (the 9), whose inherent qualities are greatly enhanced since it is based on a double 9.

It also has a significant dose of the pragmatic 8, the visionary and doer, as well as the ambitious leadership qualities of the 1. As a result, the 99 has the potential to be highly effective in making our world a better place.

From Numerology Questions - a Dear Hans column:

J. P. asks what it means when your date of birth adds to the Power number 88, and whether it's considered a Master number.

Hi Hans,

My name is J.P. and I have a question about the number 88.

What does it mean?

My date of birth is 8-8-1979.

J.P.

Hello J.P.

Numerology views the nine cardinal numbers 1 through 9 as having narrowly defined and clearly recognizable personalities. They are, quite literally, the foundation of all other numbers.

Double- and multi-digit numbers are combinations of single-digit numbers and are therefore more complex and less defined. Its like mixing paint; the primary colors are very distinct, but when you mix colors, the result becomes more and more multifaceted.

For example, the number 56 would be a merger of the numbers 5 and 6, but more pronounced is the presence of the 11 (5+6), and the 2 (1+1) is even more distinct. If you would list the numbers present in 56 in order of importance, it would be 2, 11, 5, and 6.

Among all double-digit numbers, those with identical digits are more defined and powerful than other double-digit numbers for the simple reason that instead of two digits with different traits and attributes, they are made up of digits with identical qualities; double whammies, so to speak.

Among those are three with a particularly strong and important effect – the Master numbers 11, 22, and 33. All other numbers with identical digits, such as 44, 55, 66, and so forth, are power numbers, but they don’t deserve the Master number label – not because they are not powerful, but because they are not made up of two 1s, two 2s, or two 3s.

As for the number 88, we can start by lining up the numbers represented in this double-digit number in order of importance: 7, 16, 8, and another 8. (The 16 is found by adding 8 + 8 = 16, and 7 is found by adding 1 + 6.)

The 7 is the dominant number here, and as it happens, it is my personal favorite among the single-digit numbers. Wisdom, spiritual, intelligent, inward focused, quiet, curious, and introverted are all traits I appreciate.

The 16 is a Karmic number – it’s on par with tarot’s Fallen Tower, and it does tend to self-destruct occasionally, but it does so only to create a better tower, a taller tower. There is no other number that personifies growth better than 16, but it does tend to be a difficult and enormously challenging number.

It is common for those who have a 16 among the core numbers to consciously or subconsciously break down the life they built for themselves just when it looks like all is as well as can be hoped for, only to find themselves having to start all over. But there is a reason the 16 is also called the Phoenix Rising.

Following that, we have two 8s; the number of balance and power. This is a very strong, ambitious number, a real go-getter and the exact opposite of a 7; it is in your face authoritive, efficient, and always focused on result.

So, in a nutshell, here you have a number – 88 – which contains within itself contradictions but also a mixture of qualities that can produce something truly great; the drive and pushy energy of the 8, the courage and desire to improve at any price (16), and the intellectual, analytical, and spiritual 7 at its very foundation. The 88 is a truly promising combination.

Also from the Dear Hans column:

Aashish wants to know what the Power Number 77 means and whether it should be considered a Master number.

Hi Hans,

What does the double-digit number 77 really mean ?And is it a Master number - if not, why?

Regards,
Aashish

Hello Aashish,

Like all double-digit numbers with identical digits, 77 is a power number but it is not a Master number. (Only 11, 22, and 33 are Master numbers.)

The cardinal number to which 77 reduces is 5 (7+7=14, 1+4=5), and that is its most essential personality; a love of freedom and adventure, the 5 is flexible, adaptable, and tolerant, but lacks focus and discipline. (You can read an in-depth description of the 5 here.)

However, a 5 based on 77 is highly intelligent and almost always spiritual, but it is also suspicious and lacks control. It is smart, witty, and quick, it can think on its feet, and is an excellent sales person, lawyer or politician. Unfortunately, a lack of intellectual control means its intelligence rarely results in deep realizations or intellectual breakthroughs, but rather tends to stay on the surface.

Finally, between the 5 and 77 stands the 14, a Karmic Debt number, which tends to cause issues related to freedom; abuse without self-discipline can result in drug or alcohol abuse, the inability to hold a job, and fear of commitment.

Fortunately, the 77 can never be found as a result of any calculation based on the date of birth. The highest possible double-digit number that can be found as the bases for a Life Path number is 55, all other numbers that are derived from a person’s date of birth don’t get anywhere near that (Pinnacle and Period cycles, Challenges, Transits, and Essence cycles). This means theoretically the only source in your numerology chart that can deliver a 77 is your name, and I don’t believe I have ever seen a chart that produced a 77 from the full name at birth. That doesn’t mean it’s not possible, but it is very rare.
