Numerology's Age Digit Cycle is not often used and recognized.

Your Age Digit is a yearly cycle that points to your attitude, approach, energy level, sense of security -- or lack thereof -- etc., and thereby tends to influence the way you deal with what your other cycles bring to the foreground.

The result can be positive or negative, depending, in large part, on the nature of your Personal Year and Essence cycles.

The formula to calculate your Age Digit is simple. Add your age before your birthday this year to your age after your birthday, then reduce to a single digit. For example, if your age at the beginning of this year was 27, your age following your birthday will be 28. 27 + 28 = 55. Reduce 55 by adding 5 + 5 = 10, which further reduces to 1.

Numerology's underlying logic becomes obvious when you take a closer look at the calculation methods

While your Age Digits run in tandem with your Personal Year cycles, the Age Digits cycle is five odd numbers followed by four even numbers, then 5 odd numbers, etc. (as in: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 2, 4, 6, 8, and back to 1, 3, 5, and so forth), while your Personal Year cycles are one odd number, then an even number, then an odd number, then even (as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and back to 1, 2, 3 ... etc.).

Add to that the fact that even numbers tend to be more realistic and practical, while odd numbers are idealistic and somewhat impractical, you can see how your Personal Year numbers are balanced out throughout your life by the practicality or impracticality of your Age Digit.

THE MEANING OF THE AGE DIGITS

Age Digit 1
Whatever issues are brought to the foreground by your Personal Year and Essence cycles, this particular Age Digit takes away some of the usual support from friends and family. You will have to rely more on yourself to resolve them. By the same token, this Age Digit is empowering and builds self-confidence. The later part of the year tends to be easier and better than the early part, with the exception of the month of October, which may drive a wedge between you and the people you are closest to. December stands out as a month of healing. If you have a 1 Personal Year as well, this can be a very difficult time requiring every bit of drive and courage you can muster up.

Age Digit 2
Your sense of security and self-esteem are lowered a bit, making you an easier-than-usual victim. Lies and gossip wreak havoc on pretty much any and all issues you are dealing with this year. Don't believe everything you hear; be skeptical. There is potential to make life-long connections with new friends as well as people in your professional environment this year. Romance is confusing though -- it's a rollercoaster year for the heart.

Numerology shows that May and June are the most challenging months -- pretty much in all areas, in part because you feel you are running out of steam. You will do better in July and August.

Age Digit 3
This Age Digit brings optimism and courage to the table, partially thanks to your high energy level. The exception is if your Personal Year happens to be a 4 or an 8, in which case you feel torn between a fear of the future -- mostly based on financial insecurity or career anxieties -- and that sense of optimism, which may feel misplaced. The advice is to go with the upbeat outlook, and everything else will fall into place.

You also find that you get quite a bit of support (positive people usually do), and there are moments of serendipity and a sense of being in the right place at the right time.

Age Digit 4
Patience and perseverance, even if they are not usually your strongest assets, come to the foreground this year and help you overcome some pretty tough challenges. This is a time of focus and plodding on, no matter what. If this is a 1, 4 or 8 Personal Year for you, there is definitely a promise of success and financial reward. Either way, you work on your foundation; things like home ownership, starting a savings account and establishing a college fund for the kids are examples of what the Age Digit 4 inspires us to do.

The middle part of the year tends to be the most difficult, yet the later part brings solutions and decisions that take some of the weight of your shoulders.

Age Digit 5
There is a tendency to lose control and direction, no matter what issues your Personal Year cycle is bringing to the foreground. At the same time, your ability to work with what you have -- to improvise and think outside the box -- is strong and overcomes some of the sense of chaos this Age Digit brings. Think of it as getting a boost in energy, but your internal wiring is not quite up to the job, so some of that energy goes to waste or causes unnecessary strain. This is particularly the case if your Personal Year cycle is 3 or 7, both of which already feel like they could use an anchor, not so much an energy boost. The last part of the year tends to calm things down a bit.

Age Digit 6
Normally a harmonious, well balanced number, as an Age Digit the 6 tends to do the opposite. It is destabilizing, can make you easily irritated and angry, and can be draining. On the upside, you find that others have patience and are supportive. Financial improvement as well as career opportunities and promotions are also likely, especially if this Numerology Age Digit is coupled with an even-numbered Personal Year cycle. You come out of this year better than you came in, and the fact that the next one is an 8 Age Digit is very promising as far as money and career are concerned. Family issues may are also brought out, and may be harder to resolve.

Age Digit 7
The introspective 7 helps calm down the excessively dynamic 5 Age Digit of last year, and you are more than ready for that. You find yourself taking it easier, taking more time off, and relying on a more easy going approach to pretty much everything, including romance which, unusual for the 7, is actually favored and positive, especially if this 7 Age Digit is coupled with a 2 or a 6 Personal Year cycle. Either way, affairs of the heart play a major role.

Perhaps most obvious is your ability to filter out life's white noise and focus on the matters that are truly important to you. Your social life may be suppressed a bit because of that, but that is temporary.

Age Digit 8
This Age Digit tends to bring every concern that has been hanging around in the wings to some kind of culmination. In addition, you feel more in charge and capable, so that is a powerful asset when dealing with those issues. This Age Digit also has a strong balancing influence -- what you reap is what you sow. There will be positive outcomes as well as negative, but either way, they are the result of your choices. Financially, this Age Digit can be risky, so think carefully before taking any chances or making decisions involving larger investments or long-term financial obligations.

Age Digit 9
Interestingly, the 9 Age Digit takes, within the rhythm of the cycles, the place of the 5 as their centrally-located number (as I mentioned before: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 2, 4, 6, 8, as opposed to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9), and is, therefore, more a place of turnarounds and major changes rather than the usual 9 traits of completion and finality.

With a 9 Age Digit, some unexpected events are likely -- in fact, not much happens according to expectations -- and yet it is a good year for travel. If you also have a 5 Personal Year, this will be a particularly hectic, chaotic and dynamic year. Look at what happened during a similar year nine years ago or 18 years ago to get some sense of what you can expect -- not the same issues, just the same sense of everything moving too fast for comfort.

Hi Hans,

I read your article about Age Digits. My birthday is 16/.... so I believe that makes my age digit 9 currently. Does this only apply to this year or does it run from birthday to birthday? I also wanted to know what my age digit for next year means in relation to my yearly cycle?

Hi Madison:

The Age Digit cycle always runs concurrent with the calendar year, and yes, yours is 9 for the year 2018. Your Age Digit is calculated by adding your age before your birthday to your age after your birthday, then reducing it to a single digit number. (Master numbers and Karmic Debt numbers don’t apply to Age Digits.)

In your case, you were 22 and 23 respectively, adding to (22+23) 45, which reduces to (4+5) 9.
Next year, starting in January, your Age Digit chances to a 2, as you will be 23 and 24 during 2019. These add to 47, which reduces to 11, then further reduces to 2.
